Today we’re talking about Travis Sackett, a man from Batavia, New York who disappeared on February 21st, 2021 while travelling abroad in Ecuador. In addition to tourists, Ecuador also draws humanitarian groups and other volunteers—people like Travis who had been serving the Peace Corps. At the time of his disappearance, Travis was in between missions in the Corps, and was living on a farm in Quito, where he was working in exchange for free room and board.
Travis is an outdoorsy type who likes to take advantage of the hiking trails near where he was staying. On the day he went missing, Travis was reportedly on his way to hike to the Imbabura Volcano in northern Ecuador. Though the hiking trails he would have encountered were not incredibly dangerous, there have been concerns that he could have met with some harm in the wild.
Travis’ friends and family have raised more than $12,000 in funds to go towards the search. If you would like to donate, you can do so at the link in the video description.
