I find it interesting nobody shows the kids reaction, who’s now an adult…? What’s his thoughts on this?
Good point
Maybe he didn’t want to be filmed.
EXACTLY
echoeechoe yea, that’s what I figured. The mom was a dead give away.
I have autism and I have been homeless and the way this broadcast treated the subject felt degrading. They infantilized him even though he was an older teen. They focused on the parent’s reactions. This made me feel gross.
@Barb Ginther AGREE. I hope someone eventually interviews him
@Ellie Yup. I have a friend–we dated off an on for 4 yrs-who’s autistic. And that “high functioning” thing is b.s., as well as puts lots of pressure on him. He’s had women he dated react with “Wow you don’t SEEM autistic”, when he tells them. I can’t imagine how hard it is to go through life with autism, and have to deal w all the NT morons who have no clue what it even is
Please don’t get upset. There are different degrees of autism. I have a nephew with autism. He is in his 20’s and yet he functions on a level that a 12 year old does. His favorite thing to do is to blow bubbles and he goes bonkers if you even look at his t.v.. He can communicate somewhat but you have to know how to get his response to well formed questions. Seeing that strangers wouldn’t know how to talk to him, he would be lost in the real world. I doubt you have the same behavior…each person is different. So lift your head and don’t worry. You seem to be well functioning…and you’re home, now?
I remember the missing person notification on the local store in my hometown. Everybody looked in the creeks and under the bridges for this kid. It’s nice to see them find one. Hope things go well for him.
@Huz echoe yes, something isn’t right and the moms cry is so fake. I was just curious if there was mor e info out there.
@Carmen Buenrostro No, I don’t know the backstory. I do know something about life. A cat will leave if it’s unhappy. His father didn’t really sound enthusiastic when his wife asked him to go get him. Parents marry off their daughters because they want them off the books.
Autistic children that are in a loving environment appreciate it. They look forward to seeing you everyday.
They trust you.
@eric heine step father
Bruh what. Since when do people look actively look for missing people
@Fun Central Human beings have been helping each other and looking out for each other since the very beginning.
Nobody Does it alone.
There are people looking out for you.
So happy that he’s found but something doesn’t feel right about this whole situation.
Great story! Well done to all those compassionate strangers, their care and concern. Didn’t catch a family resolution, yet?
The parent moved a few months after the kid went missing he was only gone for 2.5 years it seem suspicious plus I seen other videos of the parents reaction and it seems even more suspicious I’m just saying they should take a deeper look into it.
They totally dropped him off somewhere with some money and food and said good luck. How do you lose your kid for 3 years
I know the brother did not seem happy he was found. I bet the family uses the kids fame for a go fund me and keep the money themselves. Something is not right with this family.
AGREE
so, what about the warrant out for him…shouldn’t that have flagged something in a missing persons database and alerted authorities. sad that he had a warrant out for his arrest but not for him being missing or alerting his family so they knew he was alive…thank god the Utah cops got the training and then used it to do exactly what the training is for because if not then he could just be in jail instead of home and it took 6 times for a cop to finally realize something was off…don’t get me wrong thank god but think how many times this happens and they don’t use this training or don’t have training to use…EVERY police and first responder should be trained and required to use the training on every person they encounter not just homeless people because people have mental and physical difficulties even when they’re not homeless and we need to understand that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND NEEDS TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT, COMPASSION, AND UNDERSTANDING IN EVERY SITUTION EVERYDAY. but complete respect and recognition to the cops who did exactly this in this situation and made it possible for a family to be with their loved one who was missing and homeless for 3 years. you are what cops should strive to be and how they should treat every human they come in contact with and hope more cops and people in general can treat each other with this understanding and compassion no matter what the situation is.
This just shows how cops treat people differently, I whole heartily belive that of this person was a different ethnicity, the cops would have took him in for the warrant. But I’m glad the cops found the missing person.
Wow. Amazing story, so glad he’s going to be back with his family again. And those officers…GET THEM TEACHING CLASSES for other police officers and departments !!! They have had their mental awareness training and are actually using it !!! Much deserved thanks and recognition to them !!
lol it took them 6 tries to realize he was missing. i mean its great and all but this seems like mostly just luck
Anyone notice how the kid said “as long as I’m not being taken anywhere” to the officer. There’s got to be more to this story. Hopefully the journalists do their jobs and interview the kid.
@John Downer The world is not all sunshine and rainbows. Bad people often do bad things to good people.
Ya. He chose to stay missing for a reason. He didn’t want to go back there.
He’s got a drug problem obviously
Moms crys seem weird . Glad he is safe and found something with her seems weird . If your kid went missing couple years you assume he or she may be dead. If you get a call the kid is found i think you’re heart would stop like winning the lotto . She asking her babe go get him but she wouldnt come like 🤔. I seen people crying hard while lying hard .
Most effective argument strategy as a manipulative liar. The whole If I cry then I’m good guy tactic
FOR REAL. Also the stepdad “I’ll do my best to get him home.” SAY WHAT? Something is not right here. Plus the kid is 19. He’s an adult. Do they think he doesn’t know where his parents live??? He could’ve gone back at any time
@Sandra Wade , the young man went missing from California. At some point, the mom moved to Idaho. That’s the part I find a bit odd. You have a child go missing and then at some point you decide to move to a different state? Maybe they had to move for a job or some thing, but it seems a bit odd.
@Sandra Wade he probably ran away for some reason
Man I could just imagine the worries of that mother and what went through her mind in those 3 years thinking if her son was ok or still alive!
Sending prayers to the family..I can’t imagine what he’s been through..Let the healing began🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Amen 🙏🏽 💪🏾🙌🏾
Something is wrong here, they didn’t want him found. I’ve never heard a faker cry.
Agreed. How do we know he wasn’t being abused? The kid said, “As long as I’m not gonna be taken..” HE PROBABLY DIDN’T WANT TO BE FOUND
I would like to hear his Story. His Mum was Obviously Overwhelmed to know he’s Alive and Well, I Hope he feels the Same Way, I wish them both well for the Future.
Step Father sure seemed unthrilled… perhaps it’s shock? Seems but odd
I don’t want to seem insensitive, because I’m sure the situation is complicated. However, this whole thing seems off. The man (and I say man because he is 19) seems like he is with it enough to hold an intelligent conversation and make decisions, despite his autism. He knew where his parents were for the last 2+ years, yet chose not to contact them or attempt to go home. Something was going on in that home that the kid ran from when he was a minor; now that he is of age, it is up to him what he wishes to do. If, as they say, it wasn’t a case of kidnapping, then the kid (now adult) CHOSE to stay away, unlike most who leave in an adolescent fit of pique and return when calmer. I am definitely glad he is ok, but I would like to see an interview with just him and a journalist to hear what his side of the story is.
I am so curious about what happened over the missing 3 years.
But… when I read the comments…. now I wonder how he got “lost” in the first place. Hoping for the best, but it doesn’t sound like it.
Excellent police work. So happy for the teen’s mom and family.
Why is no one talking about why he went missing? I’m from the next County over in Mendocino and I never heard about this case. But something about all of this feels odd. Especially the fact that the mother didn’t go get her own kid who miraculously is still alive. You couldn’t stop me if that was my kid.
Why is it just on the mother????? The dad is there too. Please stop ✋️
@addierockagirl it’s his stepdad and again you would think if your child went missing and you miraculously found out they were alive you would hightail it anywhere to get them back
Clearly he can speak fine. Has anyone asked him what happened in regards to getting lost?
I don’t believe he couldn’t have found his way home if he had wanted to. Something’s wrong with this story.
