Keyona Griffin called 911 asking for help. Officers arrived at her Grand Rapids home, checked the locked doors, and left without making contact. Later that day, Keyona and her aunt, Cherletta Baber-Bey, were found dead.
Rapline News examines the authentic 911 recording, police bodycam footage, family interviews, officials’ explanations, and the reported evidence that led investigators to Derrell Brown.
As of production on October 5, 2026, Brown remained listed on the U.S. Marshals’ 15 Most Wanted page. He is wanted in connection with the killings; the allegations have not been resolved by a trial verdict.
