The Nike Air Zoom Flight “The Glove” is finally back, and for TEQCopsKicks Episode 52 we’re taking a full look at one of the most recognizable Nike Basketball sneakers of the late ’90s.
Originally released in 1998 and famously connected to Gary Payton, The Glove has always been one of those sneakers that stands completely on its own. From the zippered black shroud and hidden lacing system to the red Monkey Paw support system underneath, there really isn’t another basketball shoe that looks quite like this.
This Black and White colorway brings back that classic look with the huge white Swoosh across the front, black shroud, white detailing, red accents, and the aggressive late-’90s Nike Basketball design that made the shoe famous in the first place.
In this episode, I unbox the 2026 retro, take a close look at the materials and details, talk about Gary Payton and the history behind The Glove, compare some of the changes Nike made from the original and the 2013 retro, and get into the technology—including the Monkey Paw support system, carbon fiber, Zoom Air setup, and some of the things I wish Nike would have brought back from the original version.
I also talk about sizing and fit. I went with my normal size 12, and for me they fit good and feel true to size.
I’ve wanted a pair of The Gloves for a long time and had never owned this model before, so being able to finally add one to the collection definitely made this release special for me.
