In 1984, the Pintupi Nine, then described as the world’s “last nomads”, walked out of the desert and into modern day Australia.
It was the first time they had ever seen a white person, ridden in a car, or tasted sugar.
Today, more than 40 years on, the group’s surviving members are working to keep their cultural knowledge alive, passing it on to the next generation.
And a warning for our Indigenous viewers, this story contains images of people who have died.
