On Thanksgiving eve 1971, a quiet man in a dark suit bought a $20 cash ticket under the name Dan Cooper, told a flight attendant he had a bomb in his briefcase, collected $200,000 and four parachutes in Seattle, then jumped out of the back of a Boeing 727 into a freezing storm over the Washington wilderness. He has never been found. It remains the only unsolved hijacking in American commercial aviation history.
