Pattern Recognition: A Privilege Black Americans Don’t Get

Banks use pattern recognition.
Insurance companies use it.
The FBI uses it.
The TSA uses it.
Employers use it.
Neighborhoods use it.

But the moment Black people recognize a pattern?

“That’s prejudice.”

Tamla Horsford was the only Black woman
at the sleepover. She didn’t come home.

Nolan Xavier Wells was the only Black kid
on the boat. He didn’t come home.

We don’t know yet what happened to Nolan.
The autopsy isn’t back.

But we know what the pattern looks like.

This week on Society Breakdown:
Black people are the only group in America
expected to ignore pattern recognition
in order to prove their humanity.
