These Shark Fossils Unlocked Something WRONG About Megalodon

These Shark Fossils Unlocked Something WRONG About Megalodon

Everyone knows megalodon as a giant great white – today’s shark, shrunk down. That story is backwards, and the truth is a prehistoric murder.

The great white and the megalodon aren’t ancestor and descendant -they belong to two separate shark families. This is the smoking-gun fossil that proves the great white came up from makos, why their near-identical serrated teeth are a coincidence and not inheritance, and how the smaller shark’s rise may have helped drive the giant to extinction.

For a hundred and fifty years, one naming mistake hid the real story: the shark everyone called the megalodon’s shrunken heir may have been its executioner.
