In this video, I reflect about growing up gay and Arab, being forced to change myself to survive homophobia, and having to be masculine to be to be safe.
I explore internalized homophobia, religion, conformity, racism, scapegoating, and transphobia, and why people seen as “different” so often become targets when society feels afraid or unstable.
I also reflect about how social media amplifies our differences, instead of helping us connect.
But this is also a video about hope: understanding what shaped us, choosing what we want to keep, and refusing to let fear decide who we become.
