JWST found a tiny red source from roughly 660 million years after the Big Bang whose spectrum is extremely difficult to explain with ordinary stars alone.
This video follows the evidence behind MoM-BH*-1: an extreme hydrogen-related spectral break, unusual emission and absorption, dense-gas scattering, and the leading interpretation that a growing black hole is buried inside a thick gas envelope. It also explains why the nickname “black hole star” should not be taken literally—and why astronomers are still debating the broader family of little red dots.
The key distinction throughout is observation versus interpretation: JWST measured the light and spectrum; the hidden black-hole engine is the physical model that best explains the combined clues in this object.
