Learn English with a B1 story and listening practice. Sam starts his first night shift, falls asleep, and the store key is gone.
A guard hut, a rainy night, and one missing key.
Sam is twenty-two and this is his first real job. Omar shows him three
simple rules: check the building every hour, write in the register, and
never move the store key. Then Omar goes home, and Sam is alone.
At three o’clock Sam closes his eyes for two minutes. He wakes up at half
past four. There are two empty hours in the register, the store door is
open, and the key is not on its hook. In two hours the manager will arrive.
Sam can write a lie, or he can tell the truth.
