In 1988, women began disappearing from New Bedford, Massachusetts at a terrifying rate.
Many knew one another. Many struggled with addiction and survived within the same small Weld Square community. Then their bodies began appearing beside highways outside the city.
The murders became known as the work of the New Bedford Highway Killer.
Within months, investigators were dealing with one of Massachusetts’ most disturbing unsolved serial murder cases. Yet despite suspects, searches, surveillance and an arrest, no one has ever been convicted of the killings.
