There are plenty of videos about moving to Spain, the cost of living in Spain, Spanish culture, and the benefits of living abroad. But some things are impossible to truly understand until you actually make the move.
In this video, I share 5 things we completely underestimated before moving from the USA to Spain! From everyday life and transportation to money, housing, raising kids abroad, and the surprisingly complicated feeling of missing your old life.
We moved our family from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to Valencia, Spain and started over in a completely different country. In less than a year, we’ve navigated immigration, settled our kids into a local Spanish school, bought and remodeled an apartment, and started building a new everyday life here.
This isn’t a “Spain is perfect, you should move here!” video.
It’s an honest look at some of the things we wish we’d understood before moving abroad — including the parts that don’t show up in the typical “moving to Spain” videos.
