JONATHAN LUNA — The FBI Leaned Toward Suicide. Every Coroner Said Murder | Lancaster County 2003

Just before midnight on December 3, 2003, Jonathan Luna, a federal prosecutor in Baltimore, walked out of the courthouse, leaving his glasses and his cell phone behind. Over the next five hours his car went north through Delaware and into Pennsylvania: an ATM, a toll bridge, a turnpike service plaza. Soon after dawn a worker at a well-drilling business near Denver, in Lancaster County, found his Honda nose-down in a stream with the engine running. Luna lay in the water nearby. He had been stabbed many times and had drowned. The FBI came to believe he was alone the whole way. Every Lancaster County coroner who has ruled on it has called his death a homicide. In November 2025 a judge unsealed the autopsy.

This video answers:

– What was Jonathan Luna working on the night he left the courthouse?
– What do the ATM, the toll records and the gas receipt show about the drive?
– What was found at the stream, and what did the first investigators say about a motive?
– Why did the FBI and the county coroner reach opposite conclusions?
– What does the autopsy, unsealed in November 2025, actually say?

As of September 2026 no one has been charged in the death of Jonathan Luna. The case is an open homicide investigation with the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lancaster County District Attorney, and a federal reward of $100,000 has never been claimed.
