Lyrics:
[Intro]
Every night the engines come
Grinding through the sleeping dark
Metal birds above the roofs
Circling like a thousand sparks
[Verse 1]
Every night I hear the machines, engines roaring through the veil
Convoys moving through the darkness, and the sirens start to wail
Cargo passes under cover of night, loaded with ammunition
Men are sent into the fire, caught inside a deadly mission
[Pre-Chorus]
When the sky begins to tremble, and the earth begins to crack
When the night erupts in thunder, there is no turning back
[Chorus]
Black rain
Is falling from the sky
Black rain
Makes the children cry
Black rain
Is washing out the light
Another endless night
Black rain
Where the living used to pray
Black rain
Is falling down today
Black rain
Black rain
[Verse 2]
Drones are humming in the distance, like mosquitoes made of steel
Searching through the ruined streets, for something they can kill
A flash illuminates the darkness, then the silence comes again
Dust is rising through the houses, voices calling out in vain
[Pre-Chorus]
People wake beneath the shaking, glass comes falling from the walls
Someone screams for someone missing, someone doesn’t wake at all
[Chorus]
Black rain
Is falling from the sky
Black rain
Makes the children cry
Black rain
Is washing out the light
Another endless night
Black rain
Where the living used to pray
Black rain
Is falling down today
Black rain
Black rain
[Bridge]
The fields are burning and the rivers run black
The dead have no voices and the living look back
And far on the horizon a light ignites like a sun
In just one second we know what they have done
[Outro]
The machines have stopped.
The drones are gone.
No engines in the darkness.
No voices on the radio.
Only the wind…
And something falling from the sky –
Black rain
Black rain
[Final Chorus]
Black rain
Is falling from the sky
Black rain
Makes the children cry
Black rain
Is covering the sun
The end has just begun
Black rain
Black rain
Black rain
Black rain
Black rain!
