OpenAI Fired Three Researchers — What Were They Warning About?

OpenAI fired three researchers, and their dismissal has become a dispute about AI safety, sensitive information and independent oversight. ABID DECODE explains the competing accounts and what chain-of-thought monitoring can reveal.

What were they warning about? The researchers argue for preserving monitorability, independent evaluator access and a culture where concerns can be raised.
Why were they fired? OpenAI alleges sensitive-information violations and denies retaliation. The public record does not settle the disputed motives.

The application/test example and building-inspector comparison are explanatory illustrations, not incident transcripts. The July Hugging Face case was an internal evaluation incident with reduced safeguards.
