I hear you. I was watching a good documentary by endevr earlier today but stopped watching because it was so gloomy.
(My living situation is currently gloomy enough, lol, and I’m also having a gloomy week, for some reason.)

Update: I’m one third in now and it’s very different, so far. I’m having an off day, wasn’t feeling great, so am watching a lot of videos. Now feeling a bit better. If this was really gloomy, though, I would have clicked away by now. I am intrigued enough to keep watching and not feeling nervous about it.
Update: the series apparently is based on a novel titled “the disappeared”, I later saw.

Yes, Swedish, Norwegian and also Danish series are often like this. Dark and grey. Sweden is very thinly populated, for the most part and winters in Sweden and Norway can be very bleak. I’ve done two months of fieldwork in Sweden, in a really nice summer. The nature is great – can drive for hours without passing a car – but I wouldn’t want to live there.
As a child, I used to dream of later moving to Norway. I don’t think I would’ve liked it much though it has its pluses and you get used to everything if it is all there is. Zen…
