Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
They say misery loves company
We could start a company and make misery

[Refrain]
Frustrated Incorporated

[Bridge]
Well I know just what you need
I might just have the thing
I know what you'd pay to see

[Chorus]
Put me out of my misery
I'd do it for you, would you do it for me
We will always be busy making misery

[Verse 2]
We could build a factory and make misery
We'll create the cure; we made the disease

[Refrain]
Frustrated Incorporated
Frustrated Incorporated

[Bridge]
Well I know just what you need
I might just have the thing
I know what you'd pay to feel

[Chorus]
Put me out of my misery
All you suicide kings and you drama queens
Forever after happily, making misery

[Guitar solo]

[Verse 3]
Did you satisfy your greed, get what you need
Was it only envy, so empty

[Outro]
Frustrated Incorporated
Frustrated Incorporated
(Put me out of my misery)
Frustrated Incorporated
(I'd do it for you, would you do it for me)
Frustrated Incorporated
(Forever after happily)
(I know just what you need)
Frustrated Incorporated
(Put me out of my misery)
(I might just have the thing)
Frustrated Incorporated
(Put me out of my misery)
(I know just what you need)
Frustrated Incorporated

  1. This September will be 30 years my sister Martha Dunn has been missing. Thank you Soul Asylum for featuring her. Much love, Cora Dunn❤

    1. I am so sorry to hear about ur sister. I hope ur family finds peace some day. Never give up hope. Sending u love and hope from Moncton NB Canada

  2. I just looked it up 21 missing children were found because of this video. That is the single most amazing and important thing any musician or band has ever done. Mad respect.

    1. @J R These guys were sued for putting the pictures in their video? That makes no sense. You’d think that a lot of these families would have wanted to find their missing loved ones. But then I m just reading that One of the kids in the video with the poster was murdered by her mother so I can see that’s someone that might have sued

    2. the single most important thing any musician ever done ??? i agree its important but the best thing ever done by a band , are you sure ???

  3. Even after decades, this song, still hits deep in my heart. I’m 40 now and understood the song as a teenager, and now as an adult only realize how much worse things have gotten. I pray for all the lost souls ❤️

    1. @Kim Baker You really are. Some of the kids in the photos had run away and were hiding from horrible abuse. They weren’t too thrilled when their families found out where they were.

  4. As old as this song is, does anyone else besides myself get the sad feels while listening to this song, being aware of its meaning, and seeing the faces of the missing in this video. Can’t begin to imagine the pain some people suffer.

    1. I cry every time I listen to this masterpiece.
Thank you Soul Asylum for reuniting over 25 children with their families ❤

    2. If it makes you feel better, I just found out that this video returned 21 of the 36 kids ever featured, and when one was found, they’d remove their picture and re-release the video with a picture of another missing teen.

    3. You’re not aware of its meaning if you think it’s about missing children. It’s about depression. The director made it about missing children.

  5. Probably the most ‘real’ and ‘raw’ songs ever made. You can sense the desperation, longing, loneliness, and realism in this track. One of the most heartfelt, personal, unforgettable, impactful yet painful songs of all time

  6. So why don’t they remake this video and add more kids to it to help find them. We have the internet now, this should be like a monthly thing!

  7. My little sister has been missing since 1992 at the age of 12. I come here to cry and listen to this song hoping someday she will be in a video like this😭😭😭😭😭😭

  8. I dedicated this song to my brother who took his own life at 18.

    Not missing, but lost.

RIP, Kevin. He would be 48 today

    1. “Not missing, but lost” that’s what got my crying now. May your brother rest in peace and may god be with him.

    2. I’m so sorry and I know people say that a lot but I really am sorry. Such sadness you’ve had to live with no one should have to live with. I’m sending you healing blessings tonight. There are people who still care about others. I am one of them. May your brother find peace and rest in heaven.

    3. 💎🕊️✌️🖖🫂 Kevin IS 48; 🔁 We DON’T “die” … AS SOULS … We JUST Transcend … AND YET … We …ALWAYS … STILL Remember ALL of Those As To Who We Love 😘🫂 … AND GOD 💗🙏💓 ALMIGHTY FORGETS NONE 🪨 🪔 😇 ….🦉 🌟

  9. I’m 40 now and i remember this song like yesterday. When it came out it really touched me and it still does. Mad respect for Soul Assylum

    1. Ive known this song by heart since I was 8. Saw the music video the first time we had cable and was saddened. Love this song.

    2. Same here, never forgot it but the first time I saw the video with the pictures of the people who were missing and their names it left an impression on me I never forgot how lucky I have been in life

    1. I’m 27 I carry everyday everywhere, to protect myself and others. If everyone did. These terrible people would think nah not worth it.

  10. i never knew that 21 of the 36 missing children featured in the first video for ‘runnaway train’ were recovered!! 💗 the video still makes me cry & i am so in awe of the band’s vision and effective change they brought to the lives of those youngsters. heroes. 🌟 🎶

  11. This song is gonna be huge again soon. Touches on a lot of still relevant themes and it’s just a matter of time before it’s in a big movie or has a viral moment.

    1. ill never let it die, i was a runaway myself, i was so fortunate. a family hid me when i was gone for 7 days, my girlfriend was living in an abusive foster home, i didn’t want to run away but i couldn’t let her fend for herself on the street so i ran too. that family kept us safe, and im so happy they were never punished for it. the cops found us in their home, (they asked me my name first, gave them a fake alias, nobody else did, so i confessed once i realized all of them were caught), but they never pressed them further, they just found us in a house and treated it like that, they never pressed the family who took us in and kept us off the street. we were so lucky.

  12. The super great lyrics in Runway Train are so well written that the’re just purely and simply uncanny.Runaway Train is just simply chalk-full of some of the best music Songwriting in the Entire history of music. – Completely full of sheer magnificent eloquence and thus and hence. An enormous amount of poetry is found contained in RT’S MUSIC great work.

  13. One of the best songs ever. It’s so sad that these beautiful young people had to run away. Whatever was at home was terrible enough for them to run from it. I hope they’re alright wherever they might be. God bless them.

  14. My niece was 24 when she took her life and it tore the family apart feeling that they should’ve known what was happening and intervened. The truth is that this happens sometimes but the signs aren’t always there for us to see. Her name was Selena and she had a twin named Tina. They were identical. I can’t imagine what she went through. They were very close. RIP Selena. I know you’re in heaven and you’re happy and carefree. 💔💔💔
